Dorian Marine with Mission Dynamics has added the BRNKL Black and MAREC high-speed craft data collection package to its specialist portfolio.
The addition follows Barnacle Systems’ approval as a technology platform for NATO’s HFM RTG-419 high-speed boat study. The multinational research initiative is studying human impact exposure and brain injury risk among high-speed boat operators.
The BRNKL MAREC system has been developed for high-speed craft operations where vessel impact, crew exposure and whole-body vibration data need to be captured accurately and consistently. MAREC records high-frequency motion data from connected 3-axis accelerometers. This is paired with BRNKL Black, which acts as a secure, offline-first data logger and mission recording platform.
Together, BRNKL Black and MAREC record motion data, GPS and vessel information into a single time-synchronised mission record. The package is relevant to defence craft, patrol boats, rescue craft, sea safari boats, offshore support vessels, enforcement craft and other fast commercial vessels operating in demanding conditions.
The system is available in fixed installation and portable package formats. Fixed installations suit dedicated high-speed craft, fleet trials and long-term monitoring. The portable version allows operators, researchers and trial teams to move the package between vessels with minimal set-up.
Showing the system for the first time in Europe at Seawork, Jason Purvey of Mission Dynamics said, “The NATO programme is what makes this important. This is not just another vessel tracking or monitoring system. It is a serious data collection platform for high-speed craft impact exposure, WBV and mission analysis.
“For operators running fast boats in demanding conditions, the ability to record and review impact data is becoming increasingly relevant to crew welfare, operational review and evidence-based decision making.”
Dorian Martin of Dorian Marine and Mission Dynamics was happy to show visitors the ins and outs of the BRNKL MAREC device and discuss how the technology could be applied to their own vessels, operations and reporting requirements. The wider BRNKL product range, including BRNKL Blue and BRNKL Black for commercial vessel monitoring, video recording, GPS tracking, remote monitoring and secure mission data capture was also on display.
Mission Dynamics is an approved Barnacle Systems distributor, supporting commercial, government, defence, enforcement and professional marine operators with vessel telemetry, remote monitoring, mission recording and impact exposure data systems.
