A record-breaking Speed@Seawork has once again led the way into Seawork week, with pontoon berths and delegate spaces at Speed@Seawork completely sold out with a wait list in force.
The established precursor to Seawork got underway with breakfast, sponsored by Chartwell Marine, onboard Ocean Scene featuring an update from the National Shipbuilding Office, introductions from vessel exhibitors, and networking opportunities for the delegates, operators, suppliers, buyers on their way over to yesterday’s event in Cowes, IOW.
The challenging weather at the start of the day trip over from Southampton’s Town Quay was further enlivened by the escort of high-speed vessels, which demonstrated some of their eye-catching capabilities out in The Solent before joining the record-breaking array of fast boats on Trinity Landing with pontoon & technology sponsor ST Engineering.
Speed@Seawork delivered a full day of live, hands-on sea trials, combined with an equipment exhibition, lunch sponsored by Vessel Arrest Systems, networking and wrap up drinks, sponsored by Mecal, at the Royal Ocean Racing Club in Cowes.
Now in its seventh year, and once again delivered in partnership with the Society of Marine Industries (SMI). Speed@Seawork is the UK’s leading event for high-performance vessels operating in security, defence, intervention, blue light and search & rescue.
Yesterday ‘s event showcased cutting-edge advances in vessel design, propulsion, navigation, communications and crew safety, and delivered the latest updates on the UK MOD Boat Programme, alongside face-to-face networking with military and security specialists registered from over 22 countries.
Vessels showcased were Barrus Arctic 24 RIB, Berthon Boat Company’s Gemini WR880 and 780 plus the Gemini 1060 Cabin, the Met Police Marine Unit’s superfast Zodiac Hurricane; HM Border Force’s Delta 780HX Rigid Inflatable; CGI’s Gemini CGI Open Sea system demonstrator, Proteum’s Tideman RBB 900 2OB; the Damen HDPE Workboat 1003, ROAM’s RX Beachlander, Zodiac Milpro’ SRC 700; Viking LifeSaving Equipment’s Marathon 800 and Marathon 900, the Island RIB 10 metre, also making welcome returns were the Vessel Arrest Systems demonstrator, Griffon Marine’s 2000TD hovercraft and CRC Commando Raiding Craft new for this year, a USV courtesy of Belassi.
Equipment and service exhibitors who also put on a memorable show at RORC included Hamilton Jet, Dorian Marine, Honda Motor Europe, Musto, RAD Propulsion, SeaCross Marine, SeaSafe Systems and SKYDEX Technologies.
