Walker Marine Design has been awarded the design contract for a new 16m pilot boat to be built by Grandweld Shipyard in Dubai. The vessel will operate across Middle Eastern ports, supporting safe and efficient pilot transfer operations in demanding conditions.
Based on WMD’s proven wave‑piercing hull form, the Zenith 54 Pilot Boat delivers excellent seakeeping, stability and crew comfort, reducing vertical accelerations and improving performance at speed. Powered by twin Volvo D13 engines, it will reach 30 knots, ensuring rapid response and reliable transit times.
“We’re delighted to partner with Grandweld on this project,” said James Walker, Principal Naval Architect at WMD. “This design combines our latest hull technology with Grandweld’s strong shipbuilding capability.” Production begins this summer with completion due in 2027.
WMD will showcase its full workboat portfolio at Seawork 2026, 9–11 June, Southampton, stand G19.
