Success of unique event saw 2026 edition sold out weeks in advance 

The growing attraction of Speed@Seawork saw this year’s display of live sea trials and operational demonstrations of high-performance vessels off the Isle of Wight sell out weeks ahead of the big day. 

Well ahead of the eighth edition on Monday, 14 June 2027, Speed@Seawork organisers are unsurprisingly recommending early booking to avoid any disappointment at not being able to take part in the UK’s leading event that brings together military, security and commercial marine sectors. 

Delivered in partnership with the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI), this one-day event connects operators, designers and buyers with the people and technologies shaping the future of fast craft, as well as showcasing cutting-edge advances in vessel design, propulsion, navigation, communications, crew safety and associated technology. 

Speed@Seawork 2026 saw over 20 fast vessels on the water — including, for the first time, an Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) in the live trials — with nearly 180 attendees at the oversubscribed event. 

For 2027 both Vessel Arrest Systems and MECAL are returning as sponsors for a third year, with exhibitors already signed up including SeaSafe Systems, Dorian Marine, Spinlock, SeaCross Highspeed Navigation, Berthon, Proteum, Wills Marine, and Zodiac Milpro, with the latter four having vessels at the Cowes event. 

Live on-water demonstrations will operate from Trinity Landing at the entrance to the River Medina, with the Royal Ocean Racing Club serving as the shoreside hub for a day of briefings, networking, and direct engagement between suppliers, operators and end users.  

As ever the day begins with a chartered breakfast ferry crossing from Southampton, with delegates welcomed – or followed – into Cowes by the assembled fast-craft fleet – a sight that sets the tone for what follows. 

Typically, the event draws a specialist audience of decision makers, including international defence and naval attachés, the MOD Boats, Autonomous and Specialised Marine Projects (BASMO) team, the Royal Navy and MOD National Shipbuilding Office representatives among others.
