Twelve months and 46 new jobs later
Griffon Marine is celebrating the first anniversary of the company’s rebrand from Griffon Hoverwork with a remarkable year of growth.
Since unveiling its new identity - designed to reflect its unrivalled expertise across a broader marine portfolio - the company has delivered a year defined by major contract wins, international expansion, high-profile visits, award-winning performance and 46 new jobs to support the momentum.
Griffon Marine has strengthened its reputation both in the UK and overseas, including the securing of a significant contract with the Finnish Border Guard, further demonstrating its capability to deliver complex, mission-critical vessels to international clients. The business has also continued its long-standing relationship with the UK Ministry of Defence, delivering enhanced capability to the Royal Marines through specialist marine engineering and support.
The company’s global outlook was further highlighted by key international milestones, including the launch of a new passenger hovercraft service (using three Griffon hovercraft) by HoverDrive in Japan, and a visit from the UK Ambassador to Japan, both underlining Griffon Marine’s growing footprint in the Asia-Pacific region.
Closer to home, Griffon Marine welcomed several UK visitors including Amanda Martin MP for Portsmouth North and Darren Paffey MP for Southampton Itchen to its Trafalgar Wharf shipyard, showcasing the strength of advanced marine design and manufacturing in the Solent area and reinforcing its role as a major regional employer and innovator.
Recognition from across the industry has been a defining feature of the year. Griffon Marine has celebrated success at the Maritime Solent Awards and the Hampshire Business Awards, alongside securing additional trade accolades that reflect both technical excellence and business performance.
Beyond commercial success, Griffon Marine has also remained committed to its community, raising £10,000 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, demonstrating the company’s dedication to making a positive impact locally.
