About

Sailors’ Children’s Society is a national charity founded in 1821, supporting over 50,000 children of seafarers across the UK.

Rooted in Hull’s proud maritime heritage, the charity began life aboard a floating chapel, The Valiant, and has since evolved into a national organisation helping families in crisis.

We provide vital financial and emotional support to children from seafaring families who are in crisis. Our support reaches those connected to a wide range of maritime roles, including the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy, fishing fleets, ferries, cruise ships, and cargo vessels.

With over 200 years of dedicated service, our mission remains the same: to stand by seafaring families when they need it most, ensuring no child of the sea is left behind.
