e-Ginny is the world’s first diesel-to-electric retrofit crew transfer vessel, engineered to demonstrate a practical pathway to decarbonised offshore wind logistics. Formerly Ginny Louise, the 20m Mercurio vessel has been fitted with nearly three megawatt-hours of battery capacity, electric motors and propulsion pods, enabling 100% electric operation.
Designed to maintain the highest standards of safety, reliability and performance while significantly reducing operational emissions, e-Ginny offers increased manoeuvrability, lower noise pollution and reduced vibration for passengers, crew and the marine environment than diesel-powered alternatives.
e-Ginny has been developed alongside supporting onshore and offshore charging infrastructure, allowing her to be charged at port or directly from a wind turbine. This provides e-Ginny with unlimited, free electricity on-site, greatly extends time on the water and eliminates the need to return shoreside to refuel.
