Teignbridge Propellers is collaborating on an Ultra-Efficient Electric Boat project funded by the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT) and Innovate UK.
This is the 4th round of the UK government’s Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC-4), focusing on clean maritime technologies working towards the decarbonisation of the maritime industry, whilst supporting jobs in coastal communities and growing the economy.
The project/partnership brings industry-leading experts together to test and develop further advancements in sustainability in the form of ultra-efficient propellor technology, low-friction clean antifoul coatings and in foil-assistance to achieve even greater efficiencies for the electric vessel industry.
Building on Teignbridge’s successful CMDC round one project, the company is developing a high-efficiency propeller design suitable for electric propulsion systems.
CMDC4 is part of the Department’s UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) programme, a £206m initiative focused on developing the technology necessary to decarbonise the UK domestic maritime sector.
