As well as being the prime interceptors spearheading the UK’s central migrant Search and Rescue missions, the crews are also charged with prevention and detection of cross Border Crime, including immigration infringements and Class A drugs such as the importation of cocaine.
In addition to their operational obligations, all crews are responsible for the supervision and monitoring of all maintenance, certification and Health and Safety for their craft and occupants.
Nick Bonner, Commander, Border Protection Squadron, Maritime Technical and Logistics Unit,
Border Force, says “We see Seawork as an ideal opportunity to keep up with industry standards and research the craft of the future”.
