Seawork supporter, the British Tugowners Association (BTA) has signed a collaborative agreement with Polestar Publishing.
The agreement formalises a publishing partnership built on a strong track record. Together, BTA and Polestar has already delivered the 'Gog Rope Industry Advice', the second edition of the 'BTA Guide to Rope Selection, Procurement & Usage', and 'A BTA Guide: Use of Tugs in Firefighting': guidance that has helped promote best practice and knowledge-sharing across the towage sector.
The agreement was signed at Seawork by Polestar's Wencke Boerrigter and Robert Merrylees, Chamber of Shipping Policy Director and BTA Secretary, reflecting a shared commitment to safety, operational excellence, and professional development across the towing industry. The signing took place aboard Marine Plant Hire (UK) Ltd’s Damen 2611 Multicat ‘Tom Scruby’
The agreement also opens a new avenue for the partnership: Polestar Publishing has been granted rights to develop e-learning courses based on BTA publications. This creates a structured pathway for turning established guidance into accessible digital learning resources, supporting training and competence development across the global towage community.
