New “route to net-zero vessel” named
Purus has welcomed the latest addition to its growing fleet, the Construction/Service Operation Vessel (C/SOV) 'Purus Coriolis'.
The delivery was formally recognised in Singapore, following a successful naming ceremony held in Vietnam, celebrating the vessel’s completion at Vard Vung Tau shipyard.
The VARD 4 19 design is positioned as a “route to net-zero vessel”. Short term this includes a hybrid propulsion system and operational efficiency with IMO Tier 3 compliance, leading to an immediate reduction in emissions. The electrification of key systems such as the fully electric walk-to-work gangway enables quiet, zero-emission personnel transfer in operation. The electric motion-compensated crane (ECMC) is more efficient and lower-emission than hydraulic alternatives. This reduces both fuel use and onboard noise pollution.
Looking ahead, the vessel is methanol-ready, with the option to increase battery capacity, and in the long-term leverages digitalisation and further electrification to optimise performance and support advanced ESG reporting.
Purus Coriolis joins sister vessel Purus Chinook and will be followed later this year by a Damen 9020 C/SOV, further expanding the company’s offshore infrastructure capabilities. The growing fleet supports efficient and more sustainable operations while maintaining high performance.
Purus Coriolis will be deployed in offshore operations, supporting a range of infrastructure projects.
