Vessel Arrest Systems (RGES International Ltd) has announced the successful scaling up of the proven operational VA DHED (Vessel Arrest Displacement Hull Entanglement Device) under contract.

This system is the first ‘Less Than Lethal’ entanglement device capable of stopping vessels over 250 metres in length and with draughts deeper than 10 metres.

In a five-year collaboration with nC² Engineering Consultancy and the Wolfson Unit, two consultancy units at the University of Southampton UK, Vessel Arrest Systems has achieved a 100% success rate in defeating bulbous bows and entangling ship’s propeller(s), thereby rendering the vessel propulsion inoperable.

The research and development team at Vessel Arrest Systems has prepared a DHED-DDV (Deep Draught Vessel kit), which is now available for operational use. Maritime security teams interested in the capability of stopping vessels displacement hull vessels and specific ships exceeding 200 metres in length overall (LOA) with a minimum draught of 10 metres should contact Vessel Arrest Systems.
