Strategic Marine has secured an order from offshore wind vessel operator Mainprize Offshore for two 33-metre Supa Swath crew transfer vessels (CTVs), marking the latest phase in a long-running partnership between the companies.
The Singapore-based aluminium shipbuilder said the contracts will bring the number of Supa Swath vessels delivered or on order for Mainprize Offshore to 10. The latest agreement also represents Mainprize Offshore’s third order for the vessel series.
The newbuilds are the largest Supa Swath vessels commissioned to date by Strategic Marine and are scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2027.
Designed by Walker Marine Design, the 33-metre CTV expands on Strategic Marine’s existing 26-metre Supa Swath platform with a larger footprint and greater carrying capacity. The vessels will feature a 30-metre waterline length, a 13-metre beam and fuel storage capacity exceeding 63,800 litres to support longer operating periods offshore.
Passenger capacity will increase to 39 personnel, up from 27 on the smaller model. The vessels will also include premium seating, 360-degree wheelhouse visibility for navigation and a 140-square-metre cargo deck capable of carrying up to 50 tonnes.
Strategic Marine said the vessels are designed to maintain the speed profile of earlier Supa Swath models despite their increased size. Powered by two Caterpillar C32B engines and twin four-blade controllable pitch propellers, the vessels are expected to reach speeds of up to 30 knots.
“Our partnership with Strategic Marine has been built over many years, and this latest and third order from us reflects the trust and confidence we have in their team and their vessels,” said Bob Mainprize, managing director of Mainprize Offshore.
“The Supa Swath design continues to perform well in the field, especially in terms of stability, safety and crew comfort, which are critical to our operations,” he added.
Chan Eng Yew, chief executive of Strategic Marine, said the latest contract reflected ongoing demand from offshore operators for vessels capable of supporting high uptime and operational performance.
Mainprize Offshore currently operates 11 vessels. Following delivery of the new CTVs, its fleet is expected to expand to 21 vessels supporting offshore wind projects in Europe and Asia.
