The Maritime Service of the Spanish Guardia Civil (SEMAR) has taken delivery of its third interceptor built by Aister Aluminum Shipyards.
Part of a of 7.2 million Euros contract, the AISTER HS60 Rio Iro will join her sisters in the fight against illegal immigration, drug trafficking and organised crime.
Custom-designed in-house, the HS60s are an evolution of high-speed aluminium interceptors, with this latest vessel incorporating several modifications to further improve speed and performance.
Eighteen metres in length with a 4.5 metre beam, the HS60 comfortably exceeds 60 knots top speed propelled by two MAN inboard engines of 1800 hp each, powering two HamiltonJet waterjets.
In addition to her undeniable high-speed and manoeuvrability, the HS60 has an impressive crash-stop, coming to a standstill within two boat lengths.
The first vessel of the three, all named after rivers, was delivered last year and operates out of Algeciras. Take a look at her in action here;
