Stand by to welcome the potential commercial marine employees of the future as the Seawork Careers Fair gets underway on the final day of Seawork 2024.
Seawork is delighted to be working with Maritime UK Solent and Solent Partners to deliver another exciting careers event with over 20 schools and colleges expected to attend Seawork tomorrow, Thursday 13 June.
The day starts with the first session of 'Commercial Marine's Got Talent' in Conference Room 2.
Meet the highly qualified marine electrical engineers of the very near future as the BMEEA (British Marine Electrical & Electronic Association) Marine Electrical Apprentices Competition gets underway at 1000 over on the Seawork Event Space. The competition takes place in real time, with the task set on the day, and includes design, calculation, standards, wiring up, and the all-important 'Does it work?'
The dedicated Careers Fair at Seawork 2023 brought over 170 students and young people aged between 15 and 19 from local schools / colleges / training centres / universities to see first-hand what a job in the commercial marine industry could look like and to gain some valuable insight on the opportunities available. 2024 looks set to more than double those numbers.
Students will have the opportunity to; - Meet employers.
- Explore the exhibition stands.
- Watch the on-water demonstrations of new technologies and innovative designs.
- Listen to young people talk about their own career pathway and ambitions in the 'Commercial Marine has Talent' session featuring short inspirational talks.
- Visit the Careers Fair with over 20 careers specialists from a variety of exhibiting companies in this attractive, multifaceted sector.
