Jude McGrane joined Thames Clippers in 2001 as an apprentice Thames Watermen and Lighterman, working as a deckhand and then Mate onboard the company's conventional, and High-Speed Craft. On qualifying in 2006, Jude took up a Master's position and served in this role for a further four years before leaving to Join the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) as a Thames Helmsman. In 2014 Jude left the Thames to work at sea on private yachts which provided an interesting and educational insight into this side of the marine industry. With Thames Clippers having recently entered a phase of expansion, in 2016 Jude returned to the company as a Master, and soon after became a Type-Rating Instructor training new Masters on the company’s High-Speed Craft. Jude spent 18 months as a Senior Master before taking up his current role of Fleet Training Manager, at the now renamed; Uber Boat by Thames Clippers. Jude is currently part of the project team working on the Company’s forthcoming hybrid vessels, providing input from both crew and training perspectives.
