Magnus Þór Jónsson’s primary research interests lie in model-based optimization, vibration analysis, impact analysis, and risk assessment. He has published numerous peer-reviewed research papers and led various funded research projects, demonstrating a strong commitment to research innovation. Prof. Jónsson has held several leadership roles, including serving as the Department Head of Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of the Engineering Research Institute at the University of Iceland. He has also chaired the Continuing Education Committee and the CAD, CAM, and CAE Association in Iceland. Additionally, he has served as the Chairman of the Machine Group of Icelandic Standards and has been a board member of numerous steering committees at the University of Iceland and other Icelandic professional associations, such as the Icelandic Society of Engineers and the IT&T User Forum.
