From processing 1,000 control loops in under two milliseconds to running edge computing applications, Beijer Electronics’ new Nexto XF platform brings high-speed control and software flexibility to demanding industrial environments.
Beijer Electronics has introduced Nexto XF, a modular programmable logic controller (PLC) designed to give machine builders and system integrators greater control over complex automation tasks.
At the heart of the platform is its processing capability: Nexto XF can execute up to 1,000 proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control loops in less than two milliseconds. The system combines this high-speed performance with open, CODESYS-based engineering and support for Docker applications, giving developers greater flexibility in how they build and deploy automation systems.
Its capabilities extend beyond conventional machine control. With a built-in Linux environment, Nexto XF can operate as a standalone edge computing controller or form part of a distributed automation architecture, bringing processing and computing functions together within a single platform.
Connectivity and protection are also built into the design. VPN and firewall capabilities support secure communications, while web visualisation and a range of input/output (I/O) and communication options simplify integration into different systems. Conformal coating adds another layer of protection for electronic components exposed to harsh industrial environments.
By combining rapid processing, adaptable software and integrated connectivity, Nexto XF is designed to help operators meet increasingly demanding automation requirements without compromising on reliability or uptime. The launch strengthens Beijer Electronics’ automation portfolio for applications across marine, manufacturing and other industrial sectors.
