New contract opportunities at Speed@Seawork
Alistair Hughes, Team Leader CSS Boats within UK MoD, updated 130 delegates on MoD needs and discussed shock mitigation as they headed to Cowes on the Isle of Wight on “Ocean Scene”. Over breakfast, sponsored by OSI, the delegates were also able to observe a flotilla of fast RIBs demonstrating their speed and versatility.
Later delegates had the opportunity to experience sea trials on fast vessels in the Solent.
Over lunch, sponsored by BAE Systems, presentations were made to the delegates by Phil Scott, Synergy Group on ‘Velocity and the development journey’; John Hill, Trident Marine on the ‘Modern High-Speed Navigation Process – day and night considerations’.
Further vessel demonstrations took place on the water in the afternoon and delegates had the opportunity to network and visit the exhibition stands in Cowes Yacht Haven.
On-water demonstrations in the marina were also given by:
- Spinlock on modern lifejacket technology, with 1 “lucky” Spinlock staff member giving a live in-water demo of the new to market Alto Belt Pack, a 75N manual flotation aid.
- Glock Audio are presenting its M-215 AHD-System loudspeaker, a basic unit of a new generation emitter/transducer with revolutionary results, giving clear, high reach directional communication.
The successful Sea Trials day ended with drinks and canapés sponsored by Ocean Safety.
