New COO completes the board

Leading Dutch maritime solutions provider Damen Shipyards Group has appointed Marc van Heyningen as new COO. Van Heyningen will take up his new position from 1 April, completing the new Executive Board.

Van Heyningen holds a MSc in Civil Structural Engineering from Delft University and has spent most of his career working for Fluor Corporation in various general and operations management positions around the globe including the Netherlands, UK, India and the USA. His last role was Vice President of Operations based in Fluor Company Headquarters in Dallas, Texas.  Van Heyningen said, “I very much look forward to joining the Damen team and working to strengthen project execution and quality of delivery.”

Van Heyningen succeeds Jan-Wim Dekker in the role with Dekker having taken up the position of Chief Commercial Officer on 1 January 2020.  The Executive board of Damen Shipyards Group now comprises Arnout Damen - Chief Executive Officer, Jan-Wim Dekker - Chief Commercial Officer, Andreas Fluhrer - Chief Transformation Officer, and Tom Touber - Chief Financial Officer.
