SMG launches the all-new DORSAL antenna

There was another exciting product launch at Seawork this week on the SMG stand with the news that Shakespeare® Marine, the world leader in marine antenna design, has unveiled its innovative 5912-DORSAL antenna, which it designed alongside its UK-based distributor.

The new Shakespeare 5912-DORSAL VHF antenna has been specifically designed for coastal use applications for boats up to 15m. The unique fin-shape removes the chance of the antenna getting snagged, whilst the durable outer material ensures a longer life span, particularly within harsh environments.

As their UK distributor, SMG has been working in collaboration with Shakespeare® to produce the 5912-DORSAL which, whilst being a small profile antenna, has an impressive ranges of 10miles at 25Watts (W) or up to four miles with 1W.

Manufactured in the UK the dorsal fin boasts a number of other specifications. It is low profile (only 100mm x 60mm x 65mm) and made using solid brass which provides a high quality element which can reach a 10 mile range. The devise is also impact resistant so in standard usage conditions the unit is unbreakable (it can survive a hammer attack apparently!). It is also fully water resistant to ensure optimum service level.

At today’s Seawork launch Dave Manasseh, European Sales Manager for Shakespeare® Marine, commented, “We are very excited to be unveiling our new antenna, the 5912-DORSAL, a first of its kind in the market. The innovative design delivers a fit-for-purpose option for ventures in small-scale boats, prevents snagging and is easy to retrofit or install onto new boats. It’s a game-changer!”

Sam Adams, Marketing Manager for SMG Europe says, “Our team are delighted to announce the distribution of Shakespeare® Marine’s industry-first product design, the 5912-DORSAL. Advancing effectiveness in short-range installations, the structure and performance of the VHF antenna ensures reliable connectivity for short-range boating outings.

“Coming to Seawork makes complete sense for us as the best place to launch the new product as it gives us maximum exposure to the right industry.”

The new dorsal fin’s RRP is £78.66 + VAT
