New recruit at Safeguard Engineering, Darran Hanny has joined the team as Chief Business Development Officer for Land and Air.
Based in the Bristol office, Darran brings almost 30 years of experience across the UK defence sector, spanning military service, consultancy and business development. As Chief Business Development Officer for Land and Air markets, he will also join Safeguard Engineering’s Senior Leadership Team, helping to shape the company’s strategic direction and growth across the sector.
Darran began his career in the Royal Navy, serving 16 years in the submarine service and leaving in 2013. He subsequently worked in industry as a Combat Systems Requirements and Acceptance Manager before moving into consultancy in 2017, where he held a variety of senior engineer, bid manager and technical author roles. During this time, he also spent two years working customer-side on a national strategic programme.
Building on this experience, Darran went on to lead a portfolio of air programmes before spending five years building a Land and Weapons business development team, including supporting its expansion into overseas markets.
Darran is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IET and holds an MBA with Distinction from the University of South Wales. He is also a Member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers.
