Eminox Group has developed an IMO Tier III exhaust aftertreatment system for Rolls-Royce mtu marine propulsion systems. The integrated selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology will be applied to the company’s Series 2000 mtu engines.
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is the most technically mature and certifiable route to IMO Tier III compliance and is suitable for all marine vessels, used either for main propulsion or auxiliary power requirements. Eminox Group has developed single and twin systems alongside control systems which perform consistently and are certified by global classification societies.
“Eminox has utilised decades of exhaust aftertreatment system expertise to collaborate with Rolls-Royce mtu on the certification of the IMO Tier III compliant SCR technology which will be integrated in their Series 2000 mtu engine range.
“Our technical team has developed the system to consistently achieve the regulated IMO Tier III nitrogen oxide (NOX) target; giving confidence to operators with these engine types they can meet the stringent regulations in Emission Control Areas (ECA),” said Dr Dave Phillips, Technical Director at Eminox Group of Companies.
Through the collaboration with Eminox Group and Rolls-Royce mtu engineers this partnership saw early system modelling and bespoke installation strategies developed to support typical service life operating hours as well as spatial and weight parameters for various vessel designs.
