WMD has a new contract from UK-based Ambex for the design of a custom 8-metre USV Support RIB. This vessel will play a pivotal role in supporting a fleet of unmanned surface vessels (USVs) operated by the client.
Being built in the UK and constructed from high-grade marine aluminium, the RIB will be powered by twin Mercury SeaPro 300 outboards, delivering speeds in excess of 50 knots.
Key design features include: o Twin Shockwave S3 Suspension Jockey seats for enhanced crew comfort o A deck-mounted track system to enable flexible equipment deployment o Side door access for improved operability o An integrated Seakeeper for superior stability
This project highlights WMD’s continued commitment to delivering innovative, high-performance support vessels tailored to the evolving demands of the maritime sector.
Nikki Walker, Project Manager at WMD, comments, “At WMD, we’re well known for designing larger CTVs and Fire Boats, so it’s great to showcase our smaller vessels as well, especially as they play an important role in the commercial industry and growing USV market”.
