World launch for Emergency radio

Norwegian company, Jotron AS is to launch the world's only emergency VHF AM handheld radio, designed and approved according to the IMO MSC.80(70).

The Tron TR30 AIR is also compliant with SOLAS 74 reg. IV/7 and is a mandatory safety emergency radio on any SOLAS passenger, MODU and Polar Coded vessel.

The Tron TR30 AIR’s robust design more than meets the typical maritime requirements. Its delivered complete with a sealed emergency battery, test battery, hand strap and a holder for the radio and battery. The added advantage is that it floats with either battery.

The Tron TR30 AIR radio handset can be used with several optional waterproof speaker-microphone accessories for hands-free use during noisy aircraft operations. An innovative noise cancelling microphone filters background noise and includes a high output loudspeaker. This combination provides clearer communication with Air Search & Rescue services in extreme environments.

Jotron AS is a privately-owned company, founded in 1967, offering safety products for maritime and offshore applications; shore to ship communication products and systems; ATC radio communication products and systems for civil and military aviation and recording and replay systems

The company has 275 employees with locations in Lithuania, Norway, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and a representative office for ATC in China. The head office is based in Larvik, Norway.

Jotron AS looks forward to welcoming everyone from vessel owners and operators, classification society radio surveyors, to GMDSS equipment distributors for a demonstration on stand Q72.
