New Marine Civils exhibitor Concrete Repairs Limited (CRL) has been appointed by Dyer & Butler for the extensive refurbishment of the grade II listed bridge. The Cleveland Bridge enables traffic to travel on the main A36 over the River Avon, connecting Bath and the South West of England. After years of survey and monitoring, the bridge has recently been limited to an 18-tonne weight restriction.
The essential repair works involve detailed condition surveys in close conjunction with the project engineers, followed by extensive structural concrete repairs, installation of galvanic cathodic protection anodes, application of anti-carbonation coatings and carbon fibre reinforced polymers plate strengthening. The repair work will be carried out over a 17-week schedule.
