Looking ahead to 2027, Speed@Seawork sponsor and exhibitor Vessel Arrest Systems has already decided to sponsor next year's Speed@Seawork Lunch.
An action-packed day at this year's event saw Adam Horner, Project Lead, present to a rapt audience with some eye-popping video showing the effects of system deployment on a number of different craft. David Williams, Managing Director of Vessel Arrest Systems, expressed his satisfaction in the continuing level of interest in the company's specialist systems judging by the number of questions and conversations with Speed@Seawork delegates.
Vessel Arrest Systems was established from a UK Government Home Office project, deploying its first system in 2003. From 2007-10, it expanded vessel stopping solutions within the UK Contest Counter-Terrorist Strategy, achieving success in both surface and sub-surface stopping capabilities:
Vessel Arrest Launchers: Ranging from light-weight handheld units to mounted systems on unmanned vessels, these launchers are multifunctional tools for maritime interdiction.
Vessel Arrest Booms: Initially protecting UK Naval assets, now used dynamically as part of underway stopping strategies.
Vessel Arrest Fence: Provides surface and sub-surface protection, delivering static and smart-detection capabilities.
Approved by the UK Home Office, Department of Transport, and National Protective Security Authority, Vessel Arrest Systems has supported UK maritime police forces, the Ministry of Defence, and the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office.
