New to Seawork for 2024, Netherlands-based Rim Drive Technology develops and manufactures electric motors from 0,5 to 30kW for industrial, commercial and subsea applications.
With individual programming allowing motors to be tailor-made for individual applications, the extremely high torque and high acceleration make a rim drive motor a great solution for moving heavy-weight ferries, work pontoons or any type of work boat. Installation is easy.
Configurable as a main drive, secondary drive or bow thruster the motors are available as outboard, POD or steerable pod engines. No centre shaft limits the chance that ropes, or fishing nets will get stuck in the propeller
The motors can be used as the main drive for (unmanned) research vessels – ideal for surveying and positioning tasks. The immediate acceleration response combined with the stepless control system gives complete manoeuvrability.
The subsea motors for submarines and ROVs are standard rated for a depth of 50 msw but can easily be upgraded for a depth of 3000 msw by using special manufacturing techniques. The compact and lightweight design has a limited effect on buoyancy.
