Specialists in firefighting and lifesaving equipment for the marine industry, Marine Fire Safety has achieved MED and MER Type Approval for Stat-X® Condensed Aerosol Fire-Extinguishing Systems.
The approval follows MSC.1/Circ.1270 Testing and covers all electrically and thermally operated generator models across the range and means that Stat-X® condensed aerosol fire-extinguishing systems can now be installed onboard any size and type of commercial vessels and no longer limited to vessels up to 24m in length.
Mark Bresnahan, Managing Director at Marine Fire Safety, comments “This is a huge milestone for the team at Marine Fire Safety and the result of a great deal of hard work and determination by the technical team at Stat-X® HQ. This new IMO approval, will open up new markets for us and create exciting opportunities for future growth.”
Stat-X® condensed aerosol systems are designed for use in engine rooms, auxiliary machinery spaces, and special-hazard areas where a compact, non-pressurised suppression solution is required and is installed within the protected space without the need for external cylinder storage and pipework.
Stat-X® aerosol fire suppression technology has many benefits including, giving vessel operators confidence that, in the event of a fire, onboard electronics, engines, and sensitive machinery have the best possible chance of being protected and preserved. It minimises downtime, by significantly reducing disruptions and costly halts caused by fire incidents and prioritizes the well-being of every individual onboard, creating a secure environment for all crew members.
With EU MED and UK MER market certifications now in place alongside the global BV Type Approval, Stat-X® is well suited for use aboard SOLAS-classed vessels worldwide.
