Future Propulsion & Fuel Safety Team Leader

Maritime & Coastguard Agency

About the Speaker

I am the Future Propulsion & Fuel Safety Team Leader at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). My role is to implement maritime air pollution policy and advise on fuel safety within MCA and wider government. The scope of my team includes existing regulations such as SOx and NOx but also the vessel safety aspects relating to the reduction of GHGs. I previously worked with the surveyor team within MCA to support the approval of vessels seeking to use future fuels. I attend technical working groups at the IMO that relate to the safety of future fuels. I studied Ship Science at the University of Southampton before working as a naval architect in Portsmouth dockyard before specialising in small craft and later in resistance and propulsion testing.
