Amilia currently works for Heidelberg Materials. She is a Third Engineer working at sea who came into the maritime industry with no prior mechanical engineering background. A Warsash Maritime School alumna, she completed a three-year cadetship, graduating with an HND in Marine Engineering, and achieving her EOOW CoC Unlimited. 

She says, “This taught me extreme resilience, adaptability, and how to learn fast in a demanding environment. Day to day, I enjoy getting my hands dirty, solving problems, and constantly learning. The kind of work that pushes you, keeps you grounded, and builds confidence over time is what I love.”

Alongside her role at sea, Amilia is an emerging leader who uses her time ashore to stay engaged with the industry, promote careers at sea, and connect with other seafarers. Her natural interest has led to the creation of Shipmates Network, a growing community built for seafarers at all stages to share experiences, support one another, and grow professionally.
