BAE Systems showcase RIBs at Seawork
With more than 60 years’ experience of in-house design, innovation and collaboration, and years of research and development in specialised composite manufacture, the company can tailor solutions to precise requirements. The boats are designed for inter-operability and the in-service support pedigree gives them a privileged understanding of the boat users’ needs to carry out their missions in the most demanding conditions. BAE continuously invest in new designs and technology, including autonomous options, so its boats are ready for the future.
At Seawork BAE Systems showcased its Pacific RIBs 24 and 22. The Pacific 24 at Seawork is a Mark IV version, with an advanced lightweight, strong hull, fully SOLAS certified, with a more powerful engine and SHOXS seats, (chosen after a long study conducted with the MoD on whole body vibration), Yanmar engines and Hamilton Jets.
BAE, also showcased the Electric and Hybrid Marine Power and Propulsion at Seawork for the second year. Peter Brooks, OEM Account Manager, Global Marine Electronic Systems, explained, “BAE Systems has been in the hybrid business for about 20 years now and are on the 5th generation of hardware and have over 10,000 systems operating worldwide. The marine sector has been very North America focused and we have a number of vessels working there now, so we are now looking to get these marine hybrid solutions going in Europe. Seawork is a great place for us to connect with naval architects and boat builders and is one of the best exhibitions for us in Europe”.
Martin Bissuel, Business Development Manager, BAE Systems, explained, “Speed@Seawork is a great place for us to showcase our vessels as the format of the day means that the delegates are there all day, so that we can really capture their attention. We intend to be at this event every year as it provides a nice way to engage with our customers and also see what the other companies are offering currently.
Martin continued, “For BAE Systems everybody we need to talk to is here at Seawork, so it provides with the opportunity to condense meetings that would normally take place over several months into one week. We are all a bit exhausted but it's been very productive!”
“The MoD procurement session is very valuable to us, and the industry generally, each year, as it gives us a chance to get a forecast on what they will be up to over the next few years, so that we can manage our businesses”
