How long has your company been in existence
Whilst the clue may be in the name of your company tell us more about you?
There are two distinct aspects of the business, however both compliment and add value to the overall vision of the company, service and manufacturing.
We are experts in coded welding and marine fabrication with a team of welding engineers qualified to highest standards in the industry, providing a 24hr support service to the Marine, Offshore Construction, and Renewable Sectors. We hold significant service contracts with the Department of Marine, Fugro, Svitzer, ABCO Marine,

We secured a worldwide patent on our Compact Gangway Systems Compact Gangway Systems ® This is consisting of 2 products the PTV – Port to Vessel Gangway, and the VTV – Vessel of Vessel. Built to the requirements of DNVGL – ST-0358/ISO 7061 :2015 designed to provide safe vessel access and storage solutions for vessels with limited space. Fast becoming an essential part of the safety equipment, they feature a unique folding mechanism which adjusts automatically with tide/pier levels enables personnel to safely cross over from one vessel to another.
MMG Welding is delighted to have IS0 45001:2018 International Occupational Health & Safety Certification, this is in addition to our existing ISO 9001:2015 International Quality Certification.

You won the Award for the Compact Gangway Systems. Tell us more about the development of the systems.
Our concept for the product was to create an easily stored gangway without compromising on strength quality. It had to be safe and efficient to deploy but with minimal disruption to working vessels. Our “Port to Vessel (P.T.V.)” gangway was launched in 2018 followed by our “Vessel to vessel (V.T.V.)” gangway in 2019 which is the first of its kind available worldwide, making it a compete safety system for vessels.
What was the biggest challenge is getting the Compact Gangway Systems to market?
We had to ensure that our systems adjust automatically with tide/pier levels. We also built in other features such as drainage perforated tread plate steps for maximum safety and, for easy storage purposes, a unique manual folding mechanism with collapsible handrails, making it ideal solution for vessels with limited storage space.

How has the industry received the Compact Gangway Systems?
MMG are driven by a focus on safety and quality working to the highest standards in the industry. Our systems are attracting huge interest in the marine, offshore wind, and fish farms industries across Ireland UK Europe and worldwide.
We are delighted to have designed gangway systems for Svitzer Tugs, Cemre Turkey, Parkol UK, and Karstensaens Denmark.
What’s next for your company?
MMG are part of the supply chain providing our coded welding and manufacturing services to the offshore wind industry in Ireland and UK from our base in Killybegs, Co Donegal.
MMG are included in the Enterprise Ireland Offshore Wind Cluster, this cluster comprises forty company members representing a broad base of capability across the Irish offshore wind supply chain.
We are delighted to have recently added Svitzer and Furgo to our list of clients; we look forward to working with these and indeed all our new and existing clients.
As a company we are consistently researching and developing both our products and service. Our Compact Gangways Systems are currently being used in various industries and we hope to continue to provide these systems to the marine offshore construction and fish farming industries.
