As an industry partner for Seawork, the Civil Engineering Contractors Association is bringing together key stakeholders for a seminar to explore the rapidly expanding Floating Offshore Wind (FLOW) sector.
Government, developer and supply chain speakers, including members of CECA’s Energy and Marine groups, will explore how the sector can collaborate to deliver outstanding outcomes in this emerging market, including planning to meet the skills challenge, contractual and commercial delivery models, and supporting project consenting.
Speakers include;
Duncan Ayling, Senior Supply Chain and Regions Manager, Offshore Wind - Duncan’s role at The Crown Estate is to catalyse and enable UK offshore wind supply chain capability and growth. With 20 years’ wind energy experience, he interfaces the national and regional agendas to enhance offshore wind’s positive impact in local communities. Duncan is keen to engage with all companies which are active in, or interested in, the offshore wind supply chain.
John C Chaplin BSc CEng FICE, Director of External Affairs and Special Projects - John is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. After working in consultancy and contracting John joined The Bristol Port Company in 2000. He was promoted to the position of Director of Engineering in 2003 and subsequently to the Director with responsibility for External Affairs and the delivery of major schemes.John is the Company’s agent on various national and regional bodies and represents the Port in their dealings with neighbours, central and local government and stakeholders including National Highways, Network Rail and National Grid. John was appointed Chair of SevernNet in 2019, a social enterprise run by and for the businesses, community and other stakeholders in the Port’s hinterland.
The Civil Engineering Contractors Association is the representative body for companies who work day-to-day to deliver, upgrade, and maintain the country’s infrastructure.
With more than 300 members split across eight regions, CECA represents firms who together carry out an estimated 70-80 per cent of all civil engineering activity in the UK, in the key sectors of transport, energy, communications, waste and water.
