Berthon RIB Solutions has unveiled a cabin RIB at Seawork built for patrol work in the British overseas territory of Montserrat, in the Caribbean.
This is the first 11m cabin RIB the company has delivered, and it will be going to Montserrat as a police patrol boat.
“We’ve been around for a few years, but this is the first time Berthon has built one of these and we’re showcasing it at Seawork,” said Sales Executive James Myatt.
Fitted with twin Yamaha 350hp outboards, the 10.6m x 3.25m Gemini WR1060 RIB has ample deck space and a modular cabin set-up, which means it can be altered to accommodate up to six people from its current set-up, with four.
With a top speed of 52 knots, the RIB has an incredibly strong hull, reinforced to ensure the harshest sea environments.
There is also bunk space and the boat will be fitted with air conditioning before it travels to Montserrat.
The vessel’s price tag of around £325,000 is possible because the hulls, says Myatt, are built in Cape Town, South Africa, as are the consoles, cabin and seats.
“We have eight 11m boats in build at the moment, and we now hold particularly 8.8m hulls in stock, as these are the most popular, and it means we can turn them around in four to eight weeks.”
Berthon has also built a dual-role VIP/patrol vessel for Montserrat, an 8.8m Gemini WR880 without cabin that can do 54 knots.
