Great conditions for a sea trial
Two new Interceptor 48 pilot boats for the MVD Pilots Association in Montevideo, Uruguay. Watch Safehaven Marine’s Frank Kowalski and team put the second vessel the ‘Ederra 7’ through her paces – enjoy the footage and spare a thought for the drone operator aboard…
The first of the two Interceptor 48's for the pilots was supplied in July with her sistership launched in October. Ederra 6 and Ederra 7 are fully self-righting, able to recover from a capsize by a large breaking sea.
The vessels are equipped with a new custom design sliding pilot boarding platform that can be set for different ship side to platform distances according to conditions.
Powered by a pair of Volvo D13 500hp engines the pilot boats have an economical 25kt operational speed. Their main cabins feature a central helm position, are fully air conditioned and accommodate 7 pilots and crew all on suspension seating, with full live aboard facilities provided in a spacious forward accommodation for two crew.
Both vessels incorporate Safehaven's MOB recovery platform and special heavy impact area / boarding fender arrangement offering a high level of protection to the hull and limiting pilot ladder entrapment when alongside.
The two pilot vessels are Safehaven’s 3rd and 4th pilot boats supplied to Montevideo and the company’s 52nd and 53rd pilot boat delivered globally.
