WaterMota has been supplying the marine industry with engine room packages for over 100 years and this week was at Seawork unveiling the brand-new Hyundai DX15 marine engine.
Available in either IMO TIER II or IMO Tier III emissions standards, the engines have attained both type approval and full class approval from major marine classification societies, such as DNV-GL, BV, RINA & KR.
Watermato is the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for HD Hyundai Infracore and Watermato Operations Director, James Wyatt was on hand to explain what was creating the buzz on stand, “we're celebrating the launch of our DX15 engine from Hyundai. It comes complete with SCR system and is HBO compliant, which gives us the sort of sustainability that we're looking for from the Hyundai brand.”
Hyundai ranks among the world’s leading makers of engines, helping to build and maintain global infrastructure. Hyundai's marine diesel engines meet both emission standards and through continuous improvement and investing in the latest technologies, it continues to lead the industry through innovation and growth.
“The electronic engines are replacing an aging mechanical range,” continues Parkin. “This allows for greater fuel efficiency and an improved environmental footprint.
“A lot of people associate going sustainable with an increased cost, but that’s not always necessary and this is a very reasonably priced unit.”
A long service history seems commonplace with Watermota which last year was presented with a 25-year anniversary award by Seawork for exhibiting every year since its inception. Wyatt explains, “our award takes pride of place back in the office!
“For us it has to be Seawork and was an obvious choice for our latest announcement. It’s a real high for the marine industry.
“Over the past few years we’ve been on a focused road map, going from our smaller engines to what we have now. The DX15 release completes HD Hyundai’s line up of electronic engines from 80 – 908 KW and is the cherry on top for us.”
Watermota Ltd’s range includes Tier II / III Heat exchanger/keel cooled propulsion engines from 5.8 to 22 litres, auxiliary engines, generating sets and custom-built power packs, heavy duty reversing gearboxes, hydraulic and power steering systems and power take-off units. It also boasts heavy duty sea water pumps for most makes of engines, strainers, impellers and accessories, installation and servicing.
