The next step in a £250k investment in machinery and testing facilities at Sea Sure has been taken with the arrival of a new machining centre.

The HURCO 5-axis machining centre is one of the company’s largest single investments to date and will be used for R&D, rapid prototyping, safety-critical components and to speed up the manufacture of existing products, maintaining the high quality which is Sea Sure’s hallmark.

The new 5-axis machining centre will be used to deliver the three ranges of Shock-WBV. The shock mitigation brand (installed under seats on power boats) has led to Sea Sure becoming one of the largest manufacturers of shock mitigation seating systems in Europe with developments and upgrades in constant demand.

“Few of our customers realise that we are one of the most successful marine equipment manufacturers in the UK,” says Graham.  “We already have some of the most advanced manufacturing equipment available, but we always strive to be the best, and this investment keeps that momentum going.

“The machining centre is just the start of a serious investment programme for us.  We’re also upgrading our shock mitigation drop test rig later this year. That’ll soon become a state-of-the-art facility which we aspire to be the most advanced in Europe.”

Another CNC turning machine is due to be installed at Sea Sure later this year.
