Latest smartwatch keeps it contactless

Garmin has launched its newest marine GPS smartwatch: quatix 6. Thanks to its full marine-centric toolset, the quatix 6 acts as a wearable instrument that, when paired with onboard Garmin electronics.

This means that several members of the crew can get immediate access to the same information and data such as speed, depth, temperature, wind data and more – right from their wrist, with a range of approximately 10 metres, eliminating the need to verbally communicate or repeat this information.

If someone was to fall overboard, the Man Over Board function enables any wearer onboard to record the coordinates from where the person fell. This information can then be entered into the navigation system, so that the vessel can navigate back to that specific point.

The quatix 6 adds support for optional BlueChart® g3 charts with integrated Navionics® data, so it can be utilized as both a dedicated or back-up navigation tool.

quatix 6 is also a perfect everyday smartwatch with features like music, activity tracking, body battery and, doubly useful in these days of Covid-19, contactless payments.
