MIT, specialists in bespoke drivetrain and propulsion systems, is all set to move to a state-of-the-art 2,000 square metre new, purpose-built facility in Summer 2026.
The new facility will see MIT transition from its original location in Queenborough Shipyard to Walbrook Business Park in Queenborough, located on the Isle of Sheppey, UK. MIT leads in hybrid and electric technologies and has been designing, supplying and servicing transmissions and driveline systems across the UK/Ireland. Queenborough and its community have been home to MIT since 1974.
The move will consolidate all operations under one roof, encompassing warehousing, a paint shop, machine work, and repairs. The consolidation is expected to enhance workflow and productivity, enabling MIT to collaborate more effectively with new vendors and brands.
John Logue, Managing Director of MIT, expressed his excitement about the move, stating, "This move secures employment for our wonderful workforce here on the Island and provides us with the opportunity to expand."
He added that staying on the Isle of Sheppey is vital, as it allows MIT to remain rooted in the community and invest in local staff, who are the heart of operations. "Our success over the past 50 years is due to the dedication and passion of our people."
The new facility will incorporate solar panels and modern insulation to help reduce operating costs and emissions, reflecting MIT’s dedication to environmental sustainability
