Norwegian company, BOS Power was prepared for a busy Seawork this week, having just secured a major contract to Supply IMO Tier III Propulsion Systems for fast search and rescue vessels in Denmark.
BOS Power specialises in sustainable propulsion, energy storage, and power generation solutions, ensuring the reliability of critical operations in several key sectors including the marine industry.
A significant contract for BOS Power, it will deliver advanced propulsion systems for a fleet of seven fast search and rescue vessels operated by DALO– the Danish Acquisition and Logistics Organization. The vessels will be built at Maritime Partner’s yard in Ålesund, Norway, with delivery of the propulsion system scheduled to commence in 2026 and continue through 2028.
Each vessel measures 21.7 meters in length and 5.9 meters in width and is fitted with BOS Power’s state-of-the-art IMO Tier III certified propulsion systems, delivering high performance while adhering to strict emissions regulations.
Designed for long-range operations, these vessels will offer an operational range of over 350 nautical miles and can achieve speeds exceeding 35 knots.
The news comes hot on the heels of another announcement with the signing of a major contract with the yard Uudenkaupungin Työvene Oy to deliver a comprehensive battery electric propulsion system equipped with a Servogear EcoFlow Controlled Pitch Propeller (CPP) for two new state-of-the-art vessels.
This partnership demonstrates BOS Power’s role as a system integrator, responsible for the entire propulsion line from bridge to propeller. The vessels, designed by Multi Maritime, will be operated by Torghatten on Sweden’s west coast between Strömstad and the Koster islands and are scheduled to commence service in 2026. Each vessel is designed to carry 248 passengers, cruising at 15 knots. The project involves a DNV-classed propulsion system, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.
Svein Helge Natterøy, Sales Manager at Servogear has been a regular Seawork visitor for the past decade. For him and the 13 strong team who visit from Norway, industry engagement is key. He commented, “for us this is the most important exhibition as it’s where all our customers are. I really like to meet up with people, whether that’s the shipowners, the yards, the competitors or other suppliers. Everyone is together.”
