New antenna to be unveiled at Seawork

Swimming in to Seawork is the new 5912-DORSAL antenna from Shakespeare® Marine, courtesy of UK distributor SMG Distribution.

Designed in collaboration with SMG, the unique fin-shape removes the chance of the antenna getting snagged, whilst the durable outer material ensures a longer life span, particularly within harsh environments. The 5912-DORSAL antenna has been specifically designed for short-range applications onboard smaller boats. With a small profile, the antenna has achieved impressive ranges of 10miles at 25Watts (W) or up to four miles with 1W and is available in either black or white colourways.

Dave Manasseh, European Sales Manager for Shakespeare® Marine, comments, “We are very excited to be showing the 5912-DORSAL for the first time. Created purposely for small-scale boats, it prevents snagging and is extremely easy to install. We are confident this new antenna will be well received by the industry and look forward to receiving feedback at the show.”

In addition to the new antenna launch, SMG will be showcasing the Shakespeare® Marine seven-times award-winning Galaxy-INFL8, a rapidly deployable antenna which supplies wireless communication and signal using a unique splice connector. This enables a fast and efficient connection to existing radio cables, which further improves the radio transmission range – another industry first.

The Galaxy-INFL8 has been designed with multiple features to enhance users’ safety at sea, including contrasting colours to allow it to be seen day and night and built-in reflective strips for extra visibility. The antenna is mounted with hook and loop straps, allowing for quick and easy installation in any weather. Thanks to its inflatable design and manual valve, it is reusable, so it can be deflated and stowed away safely until needed.
