Zwanny Ltd has been appointed as the UK and Ireland distributor for the Swedish-designed and manufactured Foilex micro weir skimmer. This new portable unit, suitable for quick response to spills and other floating pollutants, was launched on the first day of Seawork.
The Foilex skimmer comprises three adjustable floats around a central self-adjusting flow controlled inlet weir. Designed to float on the water surface, its shallow draught allows for skimming close to shorelines and in shallow water. The Foilex skimmer will suck surface pollution, from light to heavy oils and even natural hazards, such as duckweed, leaves or twigs, into the strainer. The pollutants are then vacuum pumped into a holding tank which can be recycled or removed from the area.
Marc Van Der Zwan, MD of Zwanny Ltd, which has exhibitied at Seawork for ten years, says Seawork was the natural place to launch the Foilex skimmer. “The Foilex skimmer is ideal to operate from the back of tankers or other vessels, as well as in marinas, port, rivers and lakes. The Fioiled will always float parallel to the surface and it has automatic compensation for waves and swell.”
Zwanny has already sold Foilex skimmers to the Environment Agency, Port of London and some refineries. Part of the Marine Renewables Trail at Seawork, the Foilex skimmer compliments Zwanny’s range of anti-pollution products which includes inflatable and absorbent booms, oil bins and spill pallets.
