Two coastal patrol boats have been delivered to the Royal Thai Navy by Marsun Public Company Limited at a ceremony led by Admiral Adung Phan-iam, Commander of the Naval Operations Division.
The vessels will carry out various missions in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea including reconnaissance, border control, fishing protection, natural resource protection and maintaining maritime law.
Designed by The Naval Dock Department and constructed at the Thonburi Naval Dockyard, Marsun carried out the detailed design and construction drawing along with supply and delivery of materials and equipment to the Naval Dockyard.
At 41.45 metres length with a 7.2 metre beam and a draft of draft of 2.0 metres, the vessels can achieve 28 knots with power, propulsion and transmission provided by Wartsila, MAN and ZF. The vessels’ accommodation, food supplies and fresh water enable a complement of 33 persons to work continuously at sea for over 7 days, hence an operating range of 1500 nautical miles fully-loaded at cruising speed.
