Look out for this year's Future Seawork winning projects, showcasing groundbreaking innovations from current UK university students poised to transform the commercial marine sector.
This year’s wide-ranging entries included comfortable mix-and-match PPE, traffic-enhancing calm water resistance study, production of marine e-fuels at commercial scale, structural optimisation of wingsails, decarbonising inland waterways, ASV situation awareness, a reconfigurable mould tool for the production of foils.
Judged by Alan Murphy - Professor, Maritime Engineering, University of Southampton, Jake Rigby - Chair of MarRI-UK Technical Group and Yanchang Liu - Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering, University College London, the Future Seawork competition three winning projects will be announced at the Seawork Awards on the evening of Tuesday 10 June, the first day of Seawork 2025.
Last year’s winners were Rohan Jha - University of Southampton, Propeller Optimisation using a Combined ML-rom Approach; Kaja Gorska - University of Strathclyde, Data Fusion for State Estimation of Autonomous Surface Vehicles; Silvia Calvo Benthem - University of Southampton, Decarbonising tugboats in Southampton harbour.
