Spotlight on IJUBOA
Seawork supporter IJUBOA, the International Jack-up Barge Operators Association, was formed in 2008 with a mission to “set, sustain and promote standards for the safe and effective operation of self-elevating platforms throughout the world”.
IJUBOA has three strategic goals:
To promote a safe industry – safe for its people, for the environment and for society at large
To promote a learning industry – with the skilled and professional workforce essential for the safe and efficient operation of jack up barges
To promote a reputable industry – responsive to the needs of its customers and committed to continuous improvement.
Underpinning its goal of industry education, IJUBOA has a suite of training courses which have been developed to meet the needs of individuals working within the industry including, not surprisingly, the Jack-up Barge Familiarisation Course.
The one-day workshop covers the general safety aspects of over water working as well as an introduction to working with Jack-up Barges and associated marine plant. Topics include Marine Plant and Equipment Familiarisation, General Safety Aspects of Overwater Working and Good Practice, PPE and Emergency Response Drills, Rules, Regulations, Skills and Competence.
Jack-up barges are vital components in many marine civils projects - IJUBOA is able to assist marine civils contractors and associated parties with information and guidance and can even help organise a Jack-up Barge Familiarisation Days.
