This year’s Seawork Women In Marine Industry event takes a new turn with a behind the scenes look at a real-life maritime incident, the people involved and the industry’s response.
Held in partnership with WISTA UK and sponsored by SLR Recruitment Solutions, ‘Hoegh Osaka Sea: Lessons in Effective Maritime Incident Response’ is a presentation and panel discussion looking at the car carrier incident in Southampton, UK.
Moderated by Phillipa Langton – Partner LA Marine, the conversation will explore effective incident management, the key players involved, and how early decisions influence outcomes.
Mark Russell - Head of Cargo Claims Gard P&I will set the scene with a brief recap of the Hoegh Osaka incident, highlighting both successes and key lessons learned.
Alexandra Couvadelli - Team Leader Claims London/Senior Lawyer Gard (UK) Limited, will share the P&I Club perspective — being the first point of contact and navigating the people/process elements of the response.
Simon Burnay - Naval Architect Waves Group, will discuss the role of the SCR, their critical involvement, and how consultants can support the casualty response process.
Nicky Cariglia - Environmental Consultant Marittima Ltd, will focus on the environmental and ESG aspects — including cleanup operations and mitigating pollution risks.
A great opportunity to learn from keynote speakers and ask questions during a live panel debate, the discussion will be followed by a relaxed and informal drinks reception and networking with fellow industry professionals.
