Volvo Penta sponsors Young Person’s Development Award

Volvo Penta has announced its sponsorship of The Young Person’s Development Award which offers young people, from 16 – 25 years of age, who are currently studying for, or beginning, a career in the Maritime Industry, an opportunity to achieve industry recognition and a bursary to help further their career.

The prestigious European Commercial Marine Awards (ECMAs) attracts entries from across Europe, recognising the depth of excellence in the commercial marine industry. The ECMAs celebrate the outstanding individuals and innovative companies that comprise this vibrant and productive industry sector. Judged by a panel of industry experts, the ECMAs are presented at an awards evening on the opening day of Seawork.

If you know or are a young person between 16 – 25 years of age, currently studying to work or begin a career in the maritime industry, enter the Young Person’s Development Award and win a bursary worth £850!

Interested in entering:
Provide a short, informal video to show your passion for the industry, and why you should win the bursary.
Provide a few words to explain what you'd spend the bursary on and how it would help your career.

“Volvo Penta understands that to future proof our business we need to invest in the younger generation. That is why we have chosen to sponsor this particular award.

“After launching our own Marine Apprenticeship in collaboration with Bournemouth & Poole College, in July 2022, we have seen the benefits young people bring to our businesses. Taking the time to incorporate them into our world and fill a void of skilled engineers can only help build our future.

“Our company values of Passion, Customer Focus, Teamwork and Professionalism are all things that can be found in our apprentices. Taught early on, Volvo Penta see the benefits and understand the need to invest in the future.'

The winner of the Young Person’s Development Award sponsored by Volvo Penta will be announced on the evening of 13th June 2023 at Seawork.
