When looks deceive

Harken Indutrial’s new Wingman is full of innovative design features that turn what looks to be a simple double-sheaved pulley into a compact personal mechanical advantage system that can raise and lower loads of up to 681lbs or just over 308 kilos.

Wingman combines a ratcheting sheave to stop the rope with a composite handle or ‘wing’ that the operator can open and close while under load for a well-modulated ‘fine-tuned’ release. The device is also ideal for creating adjustable directionals, work positioning and much more. It may be configured as a 4:1 or 5:1 mechanical advantage system.

The two sheaves are configured to ‘nest’ inside each other, reducing the minimum length to just over 8” or 20.3cms. Under full load, even with the sheaves pulled completely together, the system may be released quite easily with full control using one hand on the ‘wing’ and the other tending the line.

Wingman packs neatly away in an industrial-grade ballistic-nylon carrying case with locking buckle. The internal drawstring separates unit and line for proper deployment and the drain grommets aid line drying.
