Zero first for waterway authority
The canals of Amsterdam will be patrolled by the first fully electric displacement workboat to have been built for Waternet, the local waterway authority, by Tideman Boats BV.
Constructed in HDPE, the zero emission, 100% recyclable RBC 900 2ES survey/patrol boat has an ultra-low 1.90m air draft in order to pass under all the bridges that cross the Amsterdam canal network.
Propelled by New Electric Marine: twin Siemens 12kW (250 VDC) water cooled electric motors with Mercruiser Alpha sterndrives for excellent manoeuvrability, the vessel uses 90 kWh LiFePO4 batteries to give a range of 10 hours @ 6 kts cruise speed. and can be speed charged.
Vessel length is 9.35m with a beam of 2.90m. The cabin has 3 workplaces, a separate toilet, pantry and heating. The moonpool in the bow can be used to setup survey equipment. There is also a second open helm station aft.
